"When you see the Southern Cross for the first time, you understand now why you came this way."

| Welcome to my redesigned New Zealand Webspace. This site is dedicated to my six-month trip to New Zealand, on a semester abroad from Boston College. I (sometimes) studied at the University of Otago, in Dunedin, and managed to tour the country from Cape Rienga at the top of the North Island to Slope Point at the bottom of the South. It was an experience I will never forget and I hope this site manages to present the unique people, culture and natural beauty of New Zealand in a fittingly positive manner. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy this site. -Zudnic (click to email) |
"I can confidently report that New Zealand is as beautiful as you've heard. It resembles Scotland if Scotland possessed Montana's Bitterroot Mountains, the Monterey peninsula, four dense rain forests, nine Machu Picchu-like rock spires, two drive-through glaciers, four Loch Nesses, 2500 cascading waterfalls, a half-dozen Big Sur coastlines, and at least 60 rivers the color of Aqua Velva. You can't swing a dead cat without striking natural beauty on the left, scenic wonders on the right. And almost certainly by dint of its 6500-mile distance from Southern California, the country is as yet unblighted by Pizza Huts, mobile-home parks, Ski-Doo marinas, giant water slides, franchised tanning salons, and Michael Eisner. -John Philips, Car and Driver Magazine, after touring the South Island |
